The National Academy of Opticianry (NAO) 2009 Membership Meeting and Awards Ceremony was held in Cincinnati on Sept 11, 2009 at the ABO-NCLE National Education Conference. Five awards were presented to the following recipients.
The 2009 Joseph Bruneni Memorial
Education Achievement Award
The Joseph Bruneni Memorial Education Achievement Award was established to recognize educators who have made noteworthy contributions to opticianry education.

2009 Beverly Myers Achievement Award
The Beverly Myers Achievement Awards were established by Leslie W. Myers on June 21, 1951, in memory of his daughter, Beverly. The awards are “bestowed upon persons who have made meritorious contributions or who have rendered outstanding services to the field of ophthalmic optics.

2009 Hall of Fame
The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize individuals whose contributions to the vision care of the public can be described as “major” and “noteworthy” and/or who have made or are making significant contributions to ophthalmic dispensing.
